I entered the picture framing business in 1975, and began painting full time in 1996. While receiving training in the Atelier method, I became very interested in the beautiful framing on paintings by artists such as Leighton, Alma-Tadema, and Gerome, as well as works by the Pre-Raphaelites and many other classical painters. I have found that while I enjoy viewing the stunning masterworks, I have always had a great appreciation for the frames that surrounded these works. As Degas put it, “the reward of the artist is the picture frame.” My desire is to create beautiful frames to be that reward. From Tabernacle style framing, to simpler frames for plein air and still life paintings, I can create quality frames in 12 k (white gold) or 16k/18k/23k genuine gold leaf or imitation metal leaf. Gilding requires much preparation and patience, as typical completion time on a Tabernacle style frame is 3-4 weeks or more, depending on the degree of complexity. Every frame design is unique and one of a kind. I strive for perfection with every frame, no matter how large or small. I will be happy to work with you to create a distinctive frame for your special painting, one that will last for many generations to come!
I am very fortunate to have met and worked with artists and collectors from around the country including Florida, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Texas. Poarch Studio frames grace paintings in one of the larger collections in Dallas, where I have an ongoing relationship for production of frames to compliment original works commissioned by the owner of the collection. I have also designed frames for individual artists, including some of the works of former President George W. Bush.
Much of the frame design process is done at my gallery in Canyon, Texas, which is housed in a work of art in its own right.....the original building was constructed in the early 1900's for the First National Bank of Canyon. The building has been proclaimed an historical landmark by the State of Texas. The stone step at the door has been worn down by thousands of footsteps over many years. You are invited to be one of those footsteps!
